News coverage of protests create the illusion of commonality. The violence that gets on the news is uncommon and therefore draws attention, giving the illusion that it is common. The vast majority is peaceful. Trump needs the illusion of chaos to be able to give him an excuse to escalate. All a distraction from Epstein, tariffs and other issues.

On a lighter note, about movies, I don’t know how you manage. Once my son was born three years ago, I stopped watching all movies except for when I went to the US by myself for two weeks. I finally sat down last year to try to watch a movie once he was asleep and my wife was asleep—And my wife ended up giving birth to our next child right after the movie ended! It was The Mummy, you know that Brendan Fraser blockbuster from 2000 or so. of course, my wife’s due date was in three days, so it wasn’t that big of a surprise. But, I’m not sure I can bring myself to watch a movie ever again!

Ha, I get that.

I totally love going to the movies by myself. Although it’s been much harder in recent years. Family stuff, plus after covid a lot of the theaters by us have limited their showtimes.

Also, so much superhero slop.

As far as vandalism and theft during riots, sometimes it's agents provocateurs. The FBI has a history of this. (And then again, I imagine sometimes it's people who want an excuse to destroy or steal).

So hard to know the truth. Especially now with very few legitimate news outlets.
